Rag Doll Sewing Project Aids Local Women to Achieve Community Development... Back in February, Bev Smith from Cashiers, NC came to Pinalito to share her passion of sewing with the local women. F.I.A. invited Bev to come and share her talents in response to an open-door they received from the U.S. to begin the production of local artistry. Rocky and Michael have been convicted, first of all, to raise up and bless the brothers and sisters in the church. Bev’s challenge, therefore, was to teach a small class of church women how to sew rag-dolls.
Classes began with a group of women eager to participate. Each woman who sticks with the program will earn her own sewing machine, and for each doll that she produces-a pay-check.
A pay-check will put food in the mouths of her children one more day. She can go to bed at night having the peace of mind that God is bringing about the provision she so asks Him for daily. She can feel accomplished, and satisfied in the work of her hands.
Melanie has stepped up to the plate to spearhead what has turned to be a full on multi-faceted extravaganza (did we mention she knows NOTHING about sewing?)!! I desire to work alongside these precious women, to disciple them in their faith in Christ and encourage them to dream the plans God has for them.
This morning, I entered sewing class to be greeted by eight eager women ready to begin. I feel the peace of surrender today as we gather together for prayer. These woman are here for one reason, they are excited about progress they have made this week and desire to get back on the machines. I ask Catalina to open us in prayer. Catalina is a vibrant, young woman in the Lord. She has a dream to own her sewing machine and begin a business in her home. Her steady involvement in our program this month encourages her to believe the possibility that her dream can come true.
The true fleshing-out of the church is taking place in it’s first “women’s group.” The dolls are a by-product of what God wants to do in the hearts of the women. Lessons learned as we work together will shape us and bless us for the rest of our lives.

Please Pray:
~That the women would learn to work together and for the glory of the Lord Jesus.
~That I can lead this program and shape it’s beginnings into something that will last for years to come.
~That God will give me the strength and wisdom to push through all obstacles that I must face daily.
